While I do have a modest artistic ability, any musical talent passed me by Frown

However, from time to time I think we have had some musicians drop by here.

Hi averagejohn and welcome here.
I play guitar regularly by myself (by now). I have a Squire which is an authorized imitation of the Fender Stratocaster (Squire is actually a trademark of Fender).
Some years ago i played in three different bands (so different in music style from one another).

I'm now trying to assemble a new band just for fun. I'm thinking about making covers of various 60s groups like The Beatles, The Grass Roots, The Byrds, The Searchers, The Knickerboxers, The Outsiders and so on (some Neil Diamond should fit in well).
Just reviving some good stuff and enjoying myself playing on stage.  Hendrix Style

You can see me playing in the pic attached. It was 1996...

Whoa, that sounds pretty sweet! Maybe you can teach me a thing or two. I just started to play the other day, I've got an acoustic here I can't hold a chord on it for more than like 2 seconds with out my fingers blistering up and exploding! Well maybe not that bad, but it hurts pretty bad. Trying to find a reasonably priced electric guitar, i thought maybe it would be easier to learn on.

Any recomendations for a beginner?  Hendrix Style

Oh my... I remember the same aching fingers when I was 16 and tryingo to learn some chord by myself. Hust picked up some favourite LPs and played with them (it's the best way to learn and know an instrument). Your fingers has simply got to get used to the presure on the chords. In some day will disappear.
However if you want to buy an electric guitar I think you may find a new Squire like mine for less than $ 300 or even less.
Mt first electric guitar was a black Ibanez (a complete different model from my actual). It was soooo heavy and uncomfortable in long sessions. Then, I found an occasion in a music shop and I bought the actual Squire Strato selling the Ibanez.
I think anyway it's better for you to practice more with the acoustic guitar. When you'll be more sure with the instrument itself, then you are ready to get an electric one.
