Did you ever listen to Hanoi Hannah while you were there?  I have heard that many American soldiers listened to her broadcasts?  Did you?  If so, what were they like?

To tell you the truth, I don't specifically remember ever hearing her while I was there.  I do think we occasionally tried to tune her in, but more out of curiosity than anything else.  When I was there in the late 60s, there would have been no way she could have competed with Chris Noel for listeners - and that would have been true for all troops, not just Radio Research.

I have seen her mentioned many times in books, but not much is said about her.  There are a few audio clips of her on the web, but not much.  There is not much out there about her (Trinh Thi Ngo).  One comment by vets that I have read several times is something like, "Bad News, Good Music".  So I assume she had an entertainment/propaganda radio show.

Good for Chris!  I like her too.  I have listened to her shows at "http://ansel.his.duq.edu/afvn/chris.html" and I like them very much.  I found these shows long before I ever found Radio VN.  Love her theme song.  "Walk with me", by Trombones Unlimited.  Can't find it anywhere to buy because I don't do Vinyl.   LOL

Have you seen  Voices from the Past:  The Search for Hanoi Hannah?  It can be found at http://lists.village.virginia.edu/sixties/HTML_docs/Texts/Scholarly/North_Hanoi_Hannah_01.html

As you may know, I am trying to get Nix to incorporate some sound bites from these broadcasts.  Definitely a dimension of VN era broadcasting that should not be overlooked.

Just Read it.  Interesting, but I would like to hear more audio clips.  The problem with being part of the media generation is that I want to see and hear  LOL

I have no problem with Hanoi Hannah per se.  She was doing her job, and was probably rewarded as part of the VN "nomenklatura".  Probably why she moved south after the war.  Many did for this reason.  I know something about this Wink

But I have a little trouble with the way she was contrasted with AFVN reporting in this article.   But .....  Lips Sealed

I agree completely.  Are you listening Nix?   Razz

Check out the military tribute from rock icon Gene Simmons of KISS.  If this doesn't get your blood moving and your eyes welling . . . you're dead!

P.S.  Recommend sound track for future patriotic holiday playlist!
